Although I’ve been to art school I consider myself a self-taught photographer. My photography is random, I usually snap away assuming it will work. Sometimes it does.

For that a plastic lens on a plastic camera is more than enough, even more so, as I oppose the idea of ultimate quality. Liberated from the pressure of getting each shot perfect, I just shoot without worrying and get surprised about what the plastic lens makes of it.

I’m just looking for pictures that are emotive and easy to embrace. At least for me photography is not about the sharpest images with the most whirly bokeh-it’s about existential considerations. I read somewhere that the great Edward Weston bought his most-used lens for $5 at a Mexican flea market.
